When my dad and his wife visited last month, they came across a cool thing.
A printed short story or poem dispenser.
You pick genre and length and it prints out a poem or short story on thermal paper (like cash register receipts). Below are some pictures.
From the website above, it appears that the local organization maintains the content so it isn’t maintained by a “corporate” organization.
Yeah, it is kind of gimicky but kind of fun.

This is cool, John. Where is it?
This one is at the Eugene Public Library in Oregon. On the Short Edition web site, there is a map of the locations of all of them. There appears to be only one in the Twin Cities.
The setup is sponsored by the Eugene Public Library, but actually, the short story dispenser photos I sent are from one located at the Eugene (OR) Mahlon Sweet airport. It’s directly on the foot traffic path to the loading gates, very prominently displayed.
