One of the most useful skills we can build is to learn how to learn. I think it should be the foundation of elementary school. Maybe middle school and high school also.
Everything we will need to do as an adult is something that we will need to learn. But parents, friends, and school can’t teach us everything. We need to be able to learn on our own.
When I decided to become a writer, I did not sign up for a class. That would have been a reasonable approach, but it wasn’t write for me. I know that I learn by listening to other’s tell their experiences and by reading.
So I listened to podcasts and read books, articles, and blog posts. And I learned a lot. I added a few conferences in there to get some in person examples and meet others in the field.
That approach worked for me and maybe there are others who learn like I do. But there are a lot that learn differently. Knowing how you learn opens up opportunities.
