It’s easy to make fun of stupid ideas. In hindsight, stupid ideas stick out badly. If every idea from a proper brainstorming session were written down, we would all be astonished at how bad some of the ideas are
But it has to be that way. We have to have stupid ideas. Because stupid ideas plant the seeds for better ideas. Without stupid ideas, there wouldn’t be better ideas.
Sometimes, the stupid ideas leak out beyond the brainstorming or decision-making folks. Others get cranked out of shape because who could possible think <stupididea> was worth considering. What doesn’t get out is the rejection of that idea and the context it all came about.
If you see some social media post or hyper-ventilating news article about some group considering a stupid idea, remember that they are just trying to get you angry so you click more AND there is context around the stupid idea that you don’t know and never will.
