Itasca State Park is our “home” campground. My wife’s family has been coming here since before she was born. I joined the family 20ish years ago and have been up here twice a year since then.
The lake is about a hundred yards from the campsites we usually are at and we walk past it many times a day. We don’t usually see sunrise (I’m writing and my wife does coffee with family), but sunset is a regular visit. The picture is a little washed out compared to the orange-yellow it really was.
Sometimes we bring our chairs down to watch the sunset and take in the longer event. There will be osprey and loons calling and fishing between us and the sunset.
It is a very peaceful place.
