Breakfast on the Farm 2026

Some of the family hosted this year’s Breakfast On The Farm. They have a herd of Black Angus and grow the hay they need. The farm itself is fun to visit. There is always stuff going on and I like learning about how it all operates.

Breakfast on the Farm is a Midwest thing, primarily in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. There are massive ones in Wisconsin that feed thousands of people on a Saturday morning. The small county one shown above had about 600 people this year. With the country’s 250th birthday, most towns and communities had something going on this weekend and that may have kept the attendance down.

In the Minnesota version of these things, breakfast is usually pancakes and sausage. Multiple large griddles back in the barn kept the pancakes and sausage patties coming. Runners kept the food coming to the serving area where butter, syrup, strawberries, and ice cream (!!) could be added. I couldn’t bring myself to do ice cream that early in the morning.

Unlimited coffee was available. Which for 600 folks, most of them farmers, is a lot of coffee. This isn’t fancy-coffee-shop coffee. This is basic good coffee by the gallon. Have as much as you want, it won’t rot your stomach. Sugar and milk is available if you have to have it. Black for most people.

Evidently, the Wisconsin version is more about a celebration of Dairy Month and features cheese curds, milk, etc. That sounds delicious so maybe I’ll try to get to one of those at some point.
