Open Source Creative is a podcast by buddy of mine, Jason Van Gumster. I connected him with another buddy of mine, Jeremy White.
There is lots of good stuff in the podcast, I want to note one particular part of the conversation.
Jeremy talks about his “failed retirement.” To paraphrase, he says that what he is doing each day is what he is choosing to do, instead of what he is obligated to do.
Other retirees talk about being busier in retirement that prior. That, I think, is tied to Jeremy’s comment. When we are doing the things we want to do for most of the day, it feels busier than a work day plus the (limited) things you want to do.
Stepping off the full time job treadmill is a better definition of retirement. You may be busier, but you don’t have someone else define your day.
